João Crasi Alves/Tiago Abrantes (Vilamoura) are Pairs National Champions.

CNFG Jamor hosted this weekend the National Championship of Pairs & Senior Pairs, which had the participation of 20 pairs, seven of which competed in the Senior Pairs competition.

Played in the category of “Foursomes”, the Pairs event was clearly won by the duo from the Clube de Golfe de Vilamoura, João Crasi Alves/Tiago Abrantes, who were in second place at the end of the first round.

Starting today's round, the Algarve were three strokes behind Martim Pinto Johansen (C.G. Vilamoura) and Francisco Reis (Orizonte), but the exceptional performance of this second round allowed them to clearly overcome all competition.

Today the duo, now National Champion, scored 63 strokes (-7), after eight “birdies” and just one “bogey” (on the 11th hole).

The Pair ranked second and National Vice-Champion was the female pair Luciana Reis (Miramar) / Amélia Gabin (Quinta do Lago), who today scored 69 strokes (-1), for an aggregate of 138 (-2), the same result leader at the end of the first round, Martim Pinto Johansen/Francisco Reis, who today recorded 73 strokes.

The first tiebreaker – best result in the last 18 holes – was in favor of the Ladies. Mens received the “Net” Winners award.

The Senior Pairs competition was extremely close, with the pairs that yesterday were in the top two places ending up tied, with an aggregate result of 148 strokes (+8).

It was therefore necessary to resort to a “Sudden Death Playoff”, which was decided on the first hole of the tiebreaker (the 9th), as João Fortes (Oitavos) / Miguel Franco de Sousa (Estoril) made PAR and the leaders at the end of the first lap Nelson Gusmão/Carlos Valente (National Association of Seniors) scored a “bogey”, taking the title of National Vice-Champions.

The “net” award in the Senior Pairs was given to the duo of the Vale de Janelas Golf Club Kim Breivik/Betty Vanneste.
